very great part in familiarisation of engine
room. The training we are getting from our

training institutes. I would like to express
my sincere gratitude to all my teachers

Hello CIMeT,
This is Zever
Fernandes, Dme-03 batch. Its been a
long time since i passed out and couldnt
mail. Sorry for that. Its been a very hectic
sailing. After two months of dry dock. We,ve
been sailing from china-korea-saudi arabia.Almost
almost 25 days of sailing.
I am working for geepee shipping, MV KRITIKA
NAREE.34000 DEADWEIGHT right now am back
again in china. Think we are going
to south africa now. I am very grateful
to CIMeT for the kind of training imparted
to us. I suggest that during workshop training,
there be written tests where the students
are given a problem like say ' high exhaust
gas temperature, wats the cause and the solution,
thus it will be known how much theoretical
knowledge can be applied practically.I mean
having more trouble shooting exercises helps,
particularly on the equipment worked on.
My Chief Engineer does ask me the reasons
for the problems. Anyway I hope all the
staff at CIMeT are in good health and doing
great. I'll try to write in soon, wat about
the new campus, hope its finished soon.
Thanking you,
Mr.Zever Fernandes.

Dear Sir,
I hope that my letter finds you in good health.
I'm sending this letter from my ship. Things
are going on fine here and I could see that
I am progressing day to day. It's almost two
and half months and I've got tuned to this
kind a life. But in the start it was very
difficult.
On board ship punctuality is of at most importance
and now I come to know why you used to give
more importance to it when I was at CIMeT.
If you are punctual almost half the battle
is won and everybody starts thinking that
you are in the right path.
Everyday I learn something new, right now
I am able to do all the daily routines individually,
such as, de-sludging of purifiers, setting
up lines for ballasting, bilge pump outs,
log book entry, firing boiler manually, soot
blowing, starting, taking on load and paralleling
of generators, internal transfer of fuels
and lub oils, maintain the plants parameters,
overhauling equipments, taking soundings and
calculating them against trim etc, Apart from
this I assist my seniors in day too day maintenance
works too. At anchorage I do independent night
watch and while sailing I do 2nd engg's watch.
My ship is 23 years old and a good ship for
starters. The crowd here are all Indians and
its well disciplined. It's a manned vessel,
capsize bulk carrier and we have very long
voyages for about a month each and the port
stay is also very less at the max 3 days.
Sir,
I need an help from you, please do advice
and write to me in what all areas I need
to show special interest in view towards
my class 4 exams, and also let me know what's
the current situation of sea me propulsion
hours do we need to complete for appearing
exam. Also about how much does it cost to
do the class 4 course and exams. My contract
is for 9 months do you think that this would
be good enough for exams. Please do write
to me in the above mentioned address, cause
I do not have the chance to check mails.
Please
advice all our institute guys to show keen
interest on the basics in MEP, SSEP and
also to communicate in English and Hindi
cause without this one cannot survive on
board. Knowing good welding and jigging
would be a very good advantage. And above
all this they have to get themselves mentally
prepared to work on ship. Because getting
a job in a good company, paid well and given
all the comforts too I feel home sick many
times.
Convey
my regards to all our institute staffs.
Please
do reply at the earliest.
Thanking You,
Yours faithfully,
Jayaseelan Fernandez
