In an
attempt to bring in quality as well as transparency
the Director General of Shipping has authorized 3 organizations
to rate Maritime Training Institutes. The three organizations
are "CRISIL", "ICRA" and CARE. The
assessment is carried out course wise after a detailed
study is done. The result is expressed as a number from
1 to 5, 1 being excellent and 5 below par. |

DME are practical training courses with major part of
the time devoted to workshop training. The workshop
training is divided into basic and afloat training.
Afloat training is imparted in the port workshop of
CSPL ably leveraging its experience as well as in an
independent power plant through an informal arrangement". |

and effective feedback system (both for students and
faculty) implemented at quarterly intervals over the
length of the course". |

ISO 9001 : 2000 certified institution with a detailed
quality manual in place. The quality objectives set
are being implemented. Detailed work instructions are
in place for both the courses and processes involved
in conducting the course are
extensively documented imparting stability to the course
quality. The institute also has a reputation in the
industry aided by its parent which is likely to provide
operational and financial support in the coming years.
All these factors supported by a good management team
will ensure sustainability in the short to medium term
notwithstanding infrastructural shortcomings". |
