VALUE ADDED

Value Added courses are those which CIMeT strives to develop in consultation with Ship Owners and Managers. These are not mandatory, but we believe provide maximum value to the ship owner in protecting his ship and investment. For the Ship Manager or Superintendent, knowing that his officers have been through these courses would reduces his tension and worry about unwanted breakdowns and delays because of lack of knowledge. Finally to the Officer or Crew concerned, it would give greater confidence and marketability, in today's highly competitive world of Shipping.

It is our experience that during a Merchant Navy Officers or Engineers training, and subsequent study and preparation for his Certificates of Competency the direction of study is often more exam related.

For example Hydraulics is just one small part of the syllabus. Yet a ship on charter can lose a substantial part of her daily hire if a Hydraulic crane breaks down in port. Seeing this as a niche area we had run a couple of courses in Hydraulics for ships Engineers and Electricians, the main objective being understanding the basics, ability to read Hydraulic drawings and rapid fault detection and rectification. We believe there are many such areas where specific result oriented short term courses would be a boon to the industry.

The courses are very practical, focussed and short term (max duration 6 days). Some of the areas where courses have been conducted or are being developed are,

  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • Instrumentation and Control
  • Practical Electrotechnology for Ships Engineers
  • Practical Electronics for Ships Engineers
  • Maritime Law.

The schedule for these courses is presently fixed on demand. Please click here to contact us for your requirements or dates.
